Does CBC have a research department?

I’ve been told that in politics, one must become accustomed to the idea that no matter how many times a questions is asked or a statement is made, your response should always be as thoughful as the first time you’ve answered. Patience is a virtue, as they say.

But if there is one thing that comes closest to getting under my skin, it is reporters who continue to make false statements about the Green Party, our policies, and our supporters.

This article on CBC is one which does just that, claiming for the umpteenth time that the Green Party is a single issue party, lacking depth on the broader range of issues which would merit serious consideration by voters.

This stereotype doesn’t bother me so much when a voter says it to my face, since I view it as an opportunity to correct their misunderstandings. I merely say, “Please tell me what issue you are interestd in, and I’d be happy to talk about the Green Party’s policy in that area.”

But reporters are, I believe, paid for their work. They are paid to present articles which are factually correct, and I would expect that to do so they would conduct at least a minimum of research into the topic at hand.

The contradictory evidence is written right into his article

The Green party is a political hybrid, favouring the business community on almost every issue except the environment, in most respects a conservative party.

So tell me Mr. Zolf, if we are a single issue party, which of our single issues favours the business community?

But as they say, patience is a virtue…
