First, for those that missed it, here’s what some of the media at least had to say about the Green Party being allowed into the televised leaders debates.
But of course, the unelected consortium has decided to vote against democracy.
I’m trying to think of the word… Hmmm, what is that word?
Communism? Facism? I dunno. What’s the best word to describe a country in which the political party in power gets to direct the media and control which other political parties the public hears?
All I can say is this.
By my count today, barring recent additions, 97 of our finest young men and women have died serving this country in the cause of bringing democracy to the people of Afghanistan.
I can only hope that they are successful, and that the people of Afghanistan then choose for themselves a better example of democracy than we have witnessed at home today.
I’m having trouble recalling a day when I’ve been less proud of my country.
