Well, actually, that’s the last thing I need. But I went ahead to start one anyway. After all, at any given point you could say that life is too busy for a new (or any) hobby, but on the other hand it’s far better to say that life is too short to keep putting off what you love doing. (I used the same logic when starting guitar lessons in my 40′s.)
So after years of looking and dreaming, I finally broke down and purchased a new DSLR camera.
Nikon D90, Sigma DC 18-50mm F/2.8 EX
No long telephoto yet, but I’m looking and will pick one up soon.
So, now to figure out how it works and have some fun! So far I’ve bought a book, read it cover to cover, failed at a whole whack of pictures, got a few good ones by accident, and signed up for the Henry’s basic course. I’m on a mission to get at least the basics down before our summer vacations.
One experience so far really made me laugh. I took camera and bicycle into the Aurora Arboretum and was set up on my tripod taking a few photo’s when a group of people walked by and we had the following conversation:
Him: “Are you some kind of photographer?”
Me, chuckling: “Yeah, some kind all right! A beginner!”
Him: “What’s so special about this bridge?”
Me: “It’s not moving.”
