Thanks to all those who voted for my photo. " fall feathers"
I was driving back from ottawa with my son michael and we pass by a large planting of this ornamental grass. I made him stop and turn around.
The way they blew in the breeze got my interest. And the fact that the background was full of trees with fall colour was a great bonus.
I did do some cropping from the original as well as enhanced the colour staturation of the trees in the background to get a richer fall color. I may just have this one printed and framed. Had lots of fun with this theme. And thanks Glenn for starting up this photo challenge am not only learning more about my camera but am learning about what one can do editing tools.

Thanks to everyone who voted for my pic, Soft Landing. I was going for a composition with large blocks of a few colours, rather than showing a full range of fall colours in a landscape.

@Jeannie, for the record that’s moss on a log, not grass.

Okay, oddly enough my first impression has remained the same!

1st- Fall Feathers. I feel the movement in this shot! I love the contrast of cool coloured "feathers" and the brilliant, hot red and orange leaf background.
2nd- Jungle Gym. Love the bold, centered composition. Beautiful depth of field, I like that it is so sharply in focus quite a way up the tree.

1st choice; bent shadows and blinding light
love the feeling of tranquility

2nd choice is soft landing.

My first pick is Fall Feathers. I love the colours and the use of depth of field. Did you change the colours in Photoshop? If so, nice work! Either way, exactly what plant am I looking at? Beautiful photo.

My second pick is Bent Shadows and Blinding Light. I agree with Donna. This one best brought to my mind a walk in the woods.

Honourable Mention goes to Falling Fall Leaf. I received this photo before the deadline and then tried to actually recreate the shot. Not for competition, but just to practice. It was then that I realied how hard it was to get this one right.

1st choice - Look Way, Way Up - all the colours of fall and an interesting perspective as well.

2nd choice - Bent Shadows and Blinding Light - I could imagine walking down the path.

Fall Feathers - I also wonder what if any editing was done.

Soft Landing - did you use "program" setting to focus on the leaf or was it done with a manual focus.

Oh boy ... hard choices again!!

First choice is "Way, Way Up!" I love the variety of colours. It is such a pretty fall picture.

Second choice is "Soft Landing". This picture represents the very beginning of fall to me while the grass is still rich and green.

Honourable mention goes to "Falling Leaf". I know how hard this shot was to get because I tried! I love that the leaf is against the blue of the sky and is recognizable as a Maple Leaf. NIcely done.

And Kate ... your picture defintiely made me smile! Love it too!

Lovely shots everyone! I have to admit I was a little sad to see only 7 submissions.
First choice: "Fall Feathers" I would like to know what editing was done to this photo if any.
Second Choice: "Soft Landing"

Honorable Mention to "Jungle Gym" I tried to shoot some trees from underneath as well but I didn't come up with anything quite as nice or unique. Great Job!
