I got the bad news today that my desktop PC has passed on. It is no more. It has ceased to be! Expired! Gone to meet it’s maker! Bereft of life, it rests in peace! It’s kicked the bucket!
Sorry, but you’ve gotta love Monty Python.
Now to give a bit of history, this PC was purchased in early 2002 and since that time has crashed hard drives on 2 occasions losing all my data until, in July of last year, if finally died when Mollie and I took it to the cottage for our weeks vacation in order for her to do some recording. Since it would not start up, no recording was done. In August, after also losing the hard drive in our laptop, we said “Done with Microsoft!” and went out and bought an iMac (which we love, by the way.)
A couple of weeks ago I finally got around to taking the machine to someone to look at it. Apparently the motherboard is no more. And with prices being what they are it’s not worth fixing.
The good news is that my data is still OK if I can just figure how to get it off the hard drives. Excellent! We don’t have to rip our hundreds of CD’s into iTunes all over again!
When I get around to replacing this PC, I’ve decided that I’ll be going with the macbook and we will be an entirely Apple household. Can’t wait.
Now, I just have to figure out how to recycle a dead PC. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The computer can go to the toxic waste collection place just east of newmarket.
However, if you can get 399 more batteries maybe we can convert your car to a plug in, it might be a good gimick for the next election.
