My Book Shelf

April 24th, 2009

Grab a coffee and take a browse through my book collection. I figured that by posting a lot of the books that have informed my thinking over the past years, I’d give people an insight into why I believe the things I do and say the things I say, and why I stood up to get involved politically in the first place.

I’m not listing these in the order written, or by author, but rather in the order in which I read them. Ishmael started me down this path. If you are a friend of Ishmael, you’ll know what I mean.

These and other titles are available for purchase through my Amazon Book Store. Any proceeds collected through this link will benefit the Newmarket-Aurora Green Party.

If you’d like to recommend a book or discuss the one’s listed here, please feel free to leave a comment.

In early 2005, a good friend handed me Ishmael and the comment on the back of the book is appropriate: “From now on I’ll group all of my books into two categories. Those I read before Ishmael, and those I’ve read since.”
For students of Ishmael. The Story of B relates the diary of a Catholic Priest who is sent by the church to central Europe in order to follow a former student of Ishmael who has gained a following from a lecture series.
My Ishmael takes place in the same time frame as Ishmael, but this time Ishmael is confronted with the challenge of teaching a 12 year old girl. She has all the precociousness, open mindedness, and curiousity you;d expect, but lacks many historical references for Ishmael to draw upon.
